King after useless king – every single one just following in the horrible footsteps of their father. Every generation was a fresh lot of evil after evil. Every new king did “evil in the eyes of the Lord” – they were simply a mess. And worse yet, they knew they were doing wrong, and kept doing it.
Can you guys believe we are SIXTEEN chapters into The Story already! Time flies when you’re having fun! This chapter begins where most do – the people are running wild like chickens with their heads chopped off. The nation of God’s followers is shrinking and shrinking, with more nations claiming their ways are better, and their kings are bigger.
What would you do if God asked you to take a stand against the leaders of the nation? What if he asked you to speak out against popular opinion? Could you do it? Would you do it?
So I’m the first to admit that this chapter is very confusing. There’s a lot of names and a lot of problems flying around, and it’s hard to follow. So I hope this recap helps you get your head around it a bit more:
If you could have one wish, just one, what would you wish for? An iPod? A pony? A year’s supply of ice cream? Solomon was asked this same question – what do you think he asked for?
David, the new king, has many faults. He feels the same we do and has the same weaknesses as the people he rules. He starts his rule well, uniting the country, and praising the Lord but those faults shine through, and he ends killing to get what he wants...
A classic tale of Dainty David and Grizzly Goliath, and how it applies you and me today!
A chapter on Samuel - a servant to God through chores and bores. Yet God multiplies all the work he does for Him!
We are over a quarter of the way through “The Story” and what a great eight chapters it has been so far. We’ve seen many spiritual characters from Abraham to Moses. Each and every person so far has had an important influence on many through their miracles and gifts, all given by the One Creator. But after all of this Gods people have lost faith once again and gone to worship other Gods. It’s time for a reunited faith, but who will be the next in this long line of Gods servants to spark the revolution…
This chapter speaks of 2 men: Gideon – the quiet weak-link in the community and Samson who #bulks #gains and #liftsbro, and is clearly the strongest man in the pack. And yet he uses both these opposites to conquer nations for Him, because if there’s one thing we’ve learnt so far, its that God can use literally anyone to do His work.
