Our Youth and Young Adults Pastor Shane Rayner brings us this message on Emulating the love of Jesus, based on John 13:1-9.
Scotty Richardson brings us part 5 of Hide and Seek,
As with every message in this series, it is based upon the words of Jesus himself, this time from Matthew 5:13-16…
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
Part four of EMULATE is brought to us by Jonathan Davies, and is taken from John 11:32-44.
Part four of Hide and Seek is brought to us by Jonathan Davies, and comes from Matthew 13:45-46...
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.
Part 3 of EMULATE comes to us from our Senior Pastor Jonathan Davies.
The scriptures are from Hebrews 12:1-3 ...
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy that was set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
... and from Luke 4:1-2 ...
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
‘Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Shane Rayner brings the third part of Hide and Seek, looking at Jesus' instruction to ask, seek and knock from Matthew 7...
Part two of EMULATE comes to us from Tyler Shedd and is all about being like Jesus in how we obey God's word.
The main theme of the message comes out of Luke 11:27-28 -
As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, ‘Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.’
He replied, ‘Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.’
Hide and Seek is the theme for the messages at XS throughout term 3, we'll be looking at the parables Jesus told and how we find the truth of the Kingdom of God through them.
You don't even need to be the right age to come to XS on a Friday to get a lot out of this series over August and September, which starts with our Youth & Young Adults Pastor Christy Rayner bringing the first two weeks...
