Last week I wrote about making mistakes, particularly about the ones that we make. Today, I want to reflect on when others make mistakes that affect us.
Some of us find this hard to deal with, in fact we find it hard to forgive.
I find forgiveness is not something easily done. It's not as simple as forgetting or just dismissing an idea. It goes beyond our rational brain and into our feelings and emotions. It touches the very core of who we are.
Forgiveness has always been a choice. We make a deliberate decision to forgive. Herein lies the difficulty. Sometimes we just don’t want to forgive. I, like most, have found myself in that place. It is a struggle to force yourself to forgive, to let go, to relinquish the pain.
I once heard a quip about unforgiveness, which is like mixing up poison for someone else and drinking it yourself.
My friends, when we choose to forgive, we also choose to follow the Jesus way. In doing so, we can have great assurance that Jesus helps us to forgive.
