Certainly it was a great event last Sunday at Seeds South – now called ConneXions. Many of us gathered to celebrate exactly ten years of the churches existence. We also gathered to celebrate the forming of a brand new, standalone church!
I know you have heard me on this before but it is a seismic event! It’s not every day in our Synod that we see the birth of a new church. This is something that we must rejoice over, that we must give thanks to our great and wonderful Lord!
To that end can I encourage you to bring this new church, to bring ConneXions before our Lord in prayer? I wonder if there is a few people who would commit to praying for ConneXions every day for the year ahead. It’s important that we nurture this church with our prayers by asking Jesus to grow this church into maturity and helping it be vital in its context. Will you join me in this?
After a 10 year gestation period this weekend sees a new church born!! It is time to celebrate, to give thanks, to marvel at the Lords work in our midst.
From this Sunday Seeds South will be no more and ConneXions Uniting Church will come into being.
At this time we should give thanks to all those who contributed towards this day coming, from those who had the original idea, those who took up the challenge, those who enabled it to grow. We should also remember those who led this new expression of church.
This weekend marks the tenth year of its existence and it is fitting that in hitting double digits it becomes a church in its own right.
I commend ConneXions Uniting Church to your prayers - not just for this weekend but for the years ahead. May the Lord richly bless them and their future ministry!
