IT'S TIME building project
May 2017 Update
From Paul Tulloch | Chair Person - Springboard Team
To paraphrase the memorable Bill Lawry, “It’s all happening here at Seeds”!
If you’re back after being away for a few weeks you will have noticed a few changes. 500 tonnes of soil are missing from the backyard, the old Impact, Creche and store rooms have been shut away and gutted, and the Mens Shed has risen from the ashes. The reception staff are valiantly operating from a shoe box, and the sounds of jackhammers, saws, trucks and grinders are all around.
The high concrete wall, to keep the residential units behind from slipping forward, is about to be poured (sprayed on, actually), which will allow the slab for the new activity areas to be formed up, plumbed and reinforced. The ramps and steps at the front of the building will begin before the end of the month, too.
Thanks to all who are innovatively leading ministry and community groups in very limited space.
Two Saturday working bees, 27 May and 3 June, are happening, to insulate, line and paint the Men's Shed and NU4U shed. Some paving around these areas and relocation of the basketball ring are also in the mix. Morning and afternoon teas and lunches provided! Please contact Keith (0433 080 883 firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are not on the church-build list and want to be involved. We’d love to have you help out - many hands make light and enjoyable work.
Just a reminder that for the construction period, the church is an industrial site, so please respect signage and barriers that keep everyone safe and the program progressing.
Please use the Stepping Stone Childcare Centre carpark up the road on a Sunday if you’re able to enjoy the short walk, as parking becomes tighter.
We are running hard to get as much of the work done before the season breaks, and the first phase (new activity areas at rear, stairs/ramps, toilets and kitchen) is scheduled for completion in September. Then to remove old the kitchen and toilet and refurbish the enlarged hall and café.
If you haven’t yet been able to contribute to the project, or want to contribute further, we’d love you to do so here. Please keep existing pledges coming in as promised.
